The Forbes writer Geri Stengel writes for women@Forbes. The article reads, In 2012, Jackson developed a prototype and manufactured it overseas. Her fashionable leak-proof panty with a built-in pad that is biodegradable, disposable, and comfortable became the first product from Femi Secrets. Like many millennial African American women, Jackson sees entrepreneurship as a way to build wealth.

One of the highlights of the article is Jackson being a select few of individuals to own patents.

Usually, women, especially women of color, don’t patent their products, according to Closing the Gender Gap in Patenting, Innovation, and Commercialization by the Institute for Women’s Policy Research. But Jackson patented Pretty Panty.

As the article highlights, Jackson covers all her bases and is a force to be reckoned with.  The article also highlighted the future goals of Jackson.

Jackson has bold goals — scaling to $20 million in revenue in the next three years, building her own manufacturing facility, and expanding globally.  “I do want to sell at some point or we might even go public,” she said. And of course she has lots of ideas for more products.

It has been very clear that Davielle Jackson, Owner of Femi Secrets, the Fem Tech start up, is a trailblazer but after a huge week last week, the company has made last week the official week of Ms. Jackson.

Celebrating a long list of achievements  last week, started off with a huge Buffalo News article, then lead into here receiving the Young Entrepreneur award from the Buffalo Urban league.

New York starts a conversation about Femi Secret owner as she is featured in the Buffalo News Refresh Health Article

The Buffalo News article written by Scoot Scanlon articulated Jackson from her beginnings to her current time. From a catholic school basketball start, all the way to a award winning entrepreneur.  One thing that is clear in the article, although very accomplished at such a young age, she is still just getting started.

The article stated that she has more products coming in the future, big plans for WNY and maybe even starting a family in the near future.

Davielle Jackson became a recent donor and partner with WNY Women’s Foundation via her wome’s dedicated company Femi Secrets. Femi Secrets is dedicated to women and the future of women, by creating healthy products for women and educating them on healthier choices of products.

WNY Womens Foundation is totally aligned with Jackson’s effort via her Tech company as well as her non profit. Jackson’s Non Profit “I am #1” is focused on the inspiration and higher education of young women. Which is the same as WNY Women Foundation.

Jackson was pleased and inspired by the women at the event including Lieutenant Governor of New York Kathy Hochul, who Jackson states is extremely supportive and a model representative for young women. Jackson is looking forward to becoming involved with the movement and continuing to inspire young women to use their brains as their #1 aspect.

Through her startup, Femi Secrets, she wants to open up the conversation about women’s health. Femi Secrets’ product, Pretty Panty, is eco-friendly, biodegradable, and safe for all ages – helping women feel comfortable and confident. Davielle hopes to extend her brand to more products for women, and to establish a forum for women’s health discussions.

What’s next for Femi Secrets? The launch of a subscription-based model, manufacturing facility, and growth right here in Buffalo.

How did your startup, well, start up?

We started up when one of my childhood friends told me she had a problem and no product on the market could solve it! We went to work on helping her.

What do you do? Your startup?

Femi Secrets is a feminine care company providing healthy, eco-friendly products and ultimate confidence to women.

When was the ‘aha’ moment for your startup when you realized this could actually work?

When I went to Walmart stores and spoke to the managers, and everyone wanted it in their store as soon as possible.

What has been the biggest accomplishment for your startup to-date?

The biggest accomplishment is being able to help other women and young ladies who suffer from the same condition my friend did.

Goals for the next year? Three years?

Scale up to $20M in revenue, build our own manufacturing facility, and captivate the international market.

Buffalo is focused on economic stimulation and driving businesses. We have seen the growth in this city and want to be a part of it.

How do you do it? What drives you?

We want all women to have access to healthy feminine care products. Women empowerment is our life!

Femi is one of the few selected prestige companies set to partner with the Buffalo Billions organization in order to stimulate the North New York economy.

Recently they chose to interview Davielle Jackson as she is poised to make a huge splash in the eco system.

Jackson has plenty on her plate. Femi Secrets is doing a makeover of its website – http://www.femisecrets.com – to be more of a sales-based platform. It is in the process of hiring a chief operating officer and a digital marketing employee, both of whom will work from Buffalo. And as manufacturing costs rise in China, the company is looking for a new overseas production partner while it also stands up its own manufacturing operation in Buffalo.

As if that’s not enough, Femi Secrets is currently engaged with different investors in an active fundraising round, and Jackson is busy designing the next generation of Femi Secrets products.

 

When asked how is she handling everything on her plate, as a young business owner she stated,

“This is what we do,” she said. “We fight hard, we break records and we get it done.”
